David W. Proctor

Managing Partner

David is the Managing Partner of Johnston Barton Proctor and Rose LLP. He is a member of the Health Care Practice Group where his practice is focused on medical malpractice defense. His litigation experience also extends to the defense of matters involving employment discrimination, products liability, insurance fraud, commercial disputes and premises liability.  David has tried dozens of jury trials in various state and federal courts in Alabama. He also regularly counsels clients on risk management issues in an effort to assist his clients in avoiding litigation if at all possible.

David graduated from Washington & Lee University (B.A., cum laude, 1981) and the University of Alabama School of Law (J. D., 1984). He is a member of the Defense Research Institute, Alabama Defense Lawyers Association, Birmingham and American Bar Associations, and the Alabama State Bar. He is also a member of the Mississippi Bar Association.

David is also active in the community, serving as a member of the Board of Directors of the Greater Alabama Council of the Boy Scouts of America, Birmingham Boys Choir and the Birmingham Business Alliance.  David is also a member of the Downtown Rotary Club of Birmingham.

David is an avid outdoorsman.  When not in the office, David enjoys playing golf, fly fishing and all types of wing shooting.
